For a cultural experience, the Bataviawerf in Lelystad is a fantastic location to learn more about the history of shipbuilding in the Netherlands with a lifelike reconstruction of the Amsterdam ship "de Batavia". Definitely worth it to be able to taste the history of the VOC times. With Bataviastad there is also time for a day out for shopping and eating out.
Visitors to the Markermeer who enjoy city life will find what they are looking for in Amsterdam in the south of the Markermeer. Cafés, museums and canals that run through the city make you want to see more. A tour of various museums and then have dinner in one of the many good restaurants along the canals.
