Cala Fuili
Lights, camera, action! You might feel like you are entering a film set and in a way you are, this cove appeared on the set of the movie ‘Swept Away’. Shallow, clear waters and the gently lapping waves of the Tyrrhenian Sea make the perfect conditions to shoot some videos of your own! Cala Fuili is a small cove, tucked in between majestic cliffs and the thick greenery of the Parco Nazionale del Golfo di Orosei e del Gennargentu. Simple, back-to-nature experiences will await you in this idyllic spot. The contrast between the green vegetation of Mediterranean shrubs and the blue of the sea contributes to the fairy-tale setting of this little cove. Maybe you will be able to spot some of the numerous climbing enthusiasts that are attracted to the rocks along the coast while you relax at the beach.
Diving and snorkelling fans, don’t forget to bring your underwater cameras, life beneath the surface is as captivating as life above. Spiaggia del Principe, Costa Smeralda
Named after Prince Aga Khan who founded the Costa Smeralda, Spiaggia del Principe, or Principe Beach, is one of the region’s most enticing beaches and a spot fit for royalty. A landscape of white sand, deep green vegetation and the iridescent blue sea will welcome you and your loved ones when you make your way by yacht to the beach.
Principe beach is one of the most picturesque beaches of Costa Smeralda, or Emerald Coast. The beach is located near the small village of Cala di Volpe and is divided by rocks that stretch out into the ocean. It is the perfect location for some snorkeling, as several species of small fish swim quietly in its shallow waters. Get your logbooks out and see who can discover the most local species!
The prince’s choosing of the beach as the best has caused the original name all but fall completely out of use, which is perhaps a good thing as it translated to ‘Port of Skins’. A rather less attractive name for a beach, it was so-named as the beach was originally used as a place for the loading of various local products, but especially leather and leather goods. Pick up some local souvenirs at the picturesque stalls to remind you of this perfect day at the Emerald Coast before you set sail to your next destination!
La Cinta
If powdery white sand is your favourite, La Cinta is the beach to experience that distinctive squelchy feeling beneath your feet as you walk over the whitest sand you will be able to find in all of Sardinia. This beach will truly take your breath away.
La Cinta is a long white sandy beach with shallow, clear water in shades of baby blue and with the steep cliffs of the island of Tavolara in the distance. What makes this beach really stand out is the incredible colour of the water and how clear it is. The sandy shallow bottom reaches far out and gives the sea here the most incredible turquoise and azure shades. It also helps keep the water that little bit warmer, so a perfect spot to get all the water toys out to take them for a spin!
Your captain will drop the anchor in the quietest part of the beach, with just the backdrop of sand dunes crested with mimosa and juniper bushes for you and your loved ones to admire. Are you an avid kite surfer? The frequent cross shore breezes combined with an abundance of space make this an excellent spot to show off your skills!
If you are a bird lover and you can tear yourself away from the beach and the sea for a bit, hike to the area beyond the dunes, occupied by a tidal lake that runs almost the entire length of the beach. The San Teodoro Lagoon is an area of ecological significance and a haven for birdlife. Common species flock here but it is the red herons and pink flamingos which will mesmerize you! Off in the distance, the imposing form of Tavolara asks for your attention. From La Cinta you will not be able to tell this mountain of bare rock is in fact an island, until you pass it on your way out!
Chia Beach
Would you like to spot pink flamingo and witness extraordinary sunsets? Talk to your captain to head over to this region in the south of Sardinia to do both!
Chia Beach is located in one of the most pristine bays that the province of Cagliari has to offer. With its sands’ colours reminiscent of small peaches, dunes covered with juniper trees and turquoise waves gently rolling towards the coastline, it should come as absolutely no surprise that Chia beach is one of the best beaches of south Sardinia.
