Outdoor Activities on Luxury Yacht Charters in the Balearics
To help fill in your leisure days aboard your luxury charter yacht, we’ve asked our charter experts here at Boatsters Black, for their personal recommendations.
Ieva recommends : Private hot-air balloon ride with champagne & tapas, Mallorca
Ieva considers Hot air ballooning is spellbinding at the best of times, but when you combine it with the jaw-dropping scenery of the Balearics, it really becomes a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience. In Mallorca, you can enjoy an exquisite private ride for an hour, circumnavigating the entire island and soaking up magnificent scenery, which you’ll share only with your loved one and, of course, a world-class pilot.
A bottle of champagne and a basket of tantalizing tapas awaits your landing. The most romantic and indulgent outdoor activity anywhere on these amazing islands!
David recommends : Hiking the Punta Nati to Cala Morell Trail, Menorca
Every Balearic island can easily be considered a hiking destination of its own accord but when forced to choose just one route, David points guests to Menorca. Specifically, from the Punta Nati to Cala Morell Trail. Requiring a moderate level of fitness, this leisurely trail follows the island’s spectacular northern coast, guiding hikers past several breathtaking coves, a historic lighthouse, and even some ancient caves.
Avid hikers head here every summer to tackle the multi-day trail but David believes the Nati to Morell stretch gives yacht charter guests an outstanding overview of the island’s dramatic coastal wilderness from a unique perspective.
David can organize a local naturalist guide if Balearic yacht charter guests wish to be accompanied as well as transfers to the starting point and pick up at the end.
Thomas recommends : Mountain bike tour of Ses Salines, Ibiza
Thomas prefers exploring the Balearics on two wheels and he thinks a cycling tour of the sensational Ses Salines Nature Reserve is right up there with the best outdoor activities for guests on Balearic yacht charters.
Ses Salines is a protected reserve that stretches from Ibiza to Formentera and covers almost 3,000 hectares of land and sea, comprising ancient salt flats and marshes that host an astonishing concentration of bird and other endemic wildlife. Mountain bike tours here are incredibly popular, for excellent reasons. Trails are flat and easy, views are out of this world and the whole outing, away from the bustling city scenes, is an exercise in relaxation and bewilderment. For mountain bike enthusiasts on a luxury yacht charter in the Balearics, there’s really no better place to indulge in their favorite hobby.
Eva recommends : Horseback riding tour, Mallorca
A fabulous outdoor activity for couples, families, and groups of friends enjoying an epic charter in the Balearics, a private horseback riding tour is not to be missed. Mallorca boasts some of the most well-reputed stables in all of Spain, and dedicated ranches organize some truly wicked private rides, customizing trails to suit every guest. With an array of horses to choose from, varying levels of difficulty depending on guest experience, and a glorious array of landscapes to choose from in Mallorca, a memorable experience is guaranteed.
Horseback riding with friends or family is extremely fun and, in Mallorca, it also means yacht charter guests get to experience the splendid countryside. This is something Eva considers to be the island’s true hidden gem.
David recommends : Scuba diving Isla Tagomago, Ibiza
Avid Scuba divers will have a field day on yacht charters in the Balearics, especially if they charter a well-equipped luxury yacht that offers dives straight off their deck. Pressed to name his most recommendable dive site of all in the region, David immediately names Isla Tagomago – a special spot he calls ‘the perfect diving all-rounder’.
Tagomago is just off the northeastern coast of Ibiza. It’s a fairly large island which means there’s a wealth of superb diving options all around, exploring deep caves, sheer walls and unreal rock formations. Diving at Tagomago, you’re likely to encounter schools of barracuda, bream, lobsters, moray eels and even sharks, occasionally.
Mind you, Ibiza boasts over 200km of coastline and several islands nearby, so diving here is phenomenal no matter where you jump in! Even if you’re just a beginner with few dive sites under your belt, you’ll find plenty of fantastic beginner dive sites to explore.
Thomas recommends : Sea caving adventure, Mallorca
The Balearics are renowned for boasting innumerable caves that are worth exploring, but for adrenalin junkies looking for an exclusive thrill, then a sea caving adventure in Mallorca is unsurpassed. Thomas says that discovering the world that exists under the island is an unforgettable experience, as is swimming in crystalline underground lakes. On a guided tour with a professional, you’ll be fully equipped with all the gear you need and, although extreme adventures can easily be organized, most are suitable even for families with children above 12 years of age.
Sea caving is a marvellous experience to be shared, Thomas says, and adds an extra dimension to the sea-based ‘fun’ of luxury yacht charters in the Balearics. You’ll explore a maze of underground caves, admire stalactites and ethereal rock formations and discover a side of the Balearics many people don’t even know exists.
