The originis of Punta Arabí Hippy Market
The first market started on the outskirts of Es Cana. The beauty of Ibiza with its magical atmosphere, hidden bays and spectacular weather attracted hippies in the sixties from all over the world. They settled on the island when it was still relatively unknown.
The origins of Punta Arabí Hippy Market date back to 1973, when the management of hotel Punta Arabí offered the hippies a platform to sell their handicrafts and products brought from different parts of the world to the few tourists staying at the hotel at that time. In the beginning, the market only consisted of five stalls: Maggie with her delicious pastries, a lady from Formentera selling handknit sweaters made with wool from her own sheep, a local young man selling puppies, children who exchanged toys and someone selling jewelry brought from India. The tunes of violins, guitars and jam sessions brought the small market to live. During those early days, the artists and vendors put up their stalls under the trees, displaying their products on draperies and colorful sheets. Over the years, the market has become a hotspot where true craftsmen offer their 100% handmade products, all locally manufactured in Ibiza.

Visit the multicultural area to attend one of the live performances. Musicians and bands from the island as well as artists from all around the world give the shows a special vibe.
