Trogir's Cathedral

After exploring the castle, make your way over to Trogir’s Cathedral (Katedrala Sv. Lovre), also known as the Cathedral of St. Lawrence. This cathedral is widely considered one of the finest architectural achievements in Croatia. Construction of this splendid three-aisled structure, built on the site of an ancient church destroyed by the Saracens, commenced in 1193 and continued for many years until finally completed around 1500. One of the most notable features is the amazing Romanesque door, carved in 1240 by Master Radovan, and flanked on either side by two stone lions. Other interesting highlights include a 47-meter-tall, 14th-century bell tower, well worth climbing.

Let’s have lunch in Il Ponte!

Just a stone’s throw from the city center, this elegant restaurant boasts a beautiful dining room with a veranda and stylish furnishings which play with a blue-and-yellow colour scheme. The modern cuisine is inspired by the Mediterranean and local traditions, coupled with the occasional imaginative touch. Excellent desserts, an attractive outdoor space, plus a kitchen which is open non-stop from midday to dinner. Restaurant il Ponte is located near the wooden bridge in Trogir, after it got its name, as il Ponte in Italians means bridge. From the restaurant you have a view over the wooden bridge, the sea and the old town (in the foreground the tower of St. Mark) which is under the protection of UNESCO, as well as the entire city of Trogir. The restaurant has an internal main hall, an outdoor glazed terrace overlooking the sea and the old town and summer terrace while some of the seats are below sea level, along with many Croatian wine labels. With their extensive menu, there will be something for everyone in your party to enjoy. Paired with excellent local wines, sit back and relax while you take it all in. Don’t forget to leave some room for dessert!
