What better way to visit Montenegro than by luxury yacht charter?

Now that you are planning your luxury yacht charter in the Adriatic Sea for this summer, make sure Montenegro is part of your itinerary!

Montenegro is one of Europe’s smallest countries and borders Croatia, where you started your trip along this magical coast. You will soon find out why Montenegro is dubbed the jewel of the Adriatic Sea! Not only does it offer breathtaking nature, but it also boasts lovely historic cities, fantastic food and a friendly population. For such a small country, the variety in landscape is mind-blowing, from towering mountains and deep green forests to sun-soaked beaches and crystal-clear fjords, the change of scenery is endless. Yachting in Montenegro is a one of a kind experience, combining breathtaking beauty with a glamorous feeling. Arrive in style at the majestic Bay of Kotor, sailing past idyllic river islands and stunning Venetian palaces, and visit superyacht marinas known for their luxury.

Bay of Kotor

If there is one destination in Montenegro you cannot miss, it is the Bay of Kotor. This butterfly-shaped bay with beautiful blue water, a mountainous backdrop, and medieval and Venetian-era towns is the perfect area to go on a hike. After an early breakfast on deck, the tender will bring you ashore to explore the UNESCO-listed town of Kotor with your loved ones.  Situated on a secluded tip of the bay, its finely preserved old town is where you want to go. Built between the 12th and 14th century, it is absolutely stunning with its narrow, cobbled streets and medieval architecture. The old town of Kotor dates back to Roman times, first being mentioned in 168 BC. Occupying a strategic position on the Adriatic Sea, it has been fortified since the Middle Ages.

St. John’s Fortress, originally called the Fortress of San Giovanni, is the most well known site in Kotor and a must see attraction. You can’t visit Kotor and not get up to the fortress for an unmatched panoramic view of the town and the bay below. You will be thankful your chief stewardess told you to wear appropriate shoes, as the path is made of stones and also to wear a hat and sunscreen, as there is practically no shade until you reach the top! Make sure to take lots of pictures before you make your way back down to relax at one of the picturesque sidewalk cafes. After a well-deserved glass of chilled local white wine, hop back on the tender and keep your eyes peeled for the island situated in the calm water of the bay. Our Lady of the Rocks is an artificial island. As the story goes, sailors from the nearby town of Perast would lay a rock in this very spot after every successful voyage so that a church could be built on top of the rocks. It took them two hundred years to create the base for the beautiful little church!

Set sail to Stevi Stefan

After a warm welcome back onboard, with freshly whipped up cocktails waiting for you the moment you step on deck, the captain will set sail to the enchantingly pretty peninsula of Stevi Stefan. This ancient citadel has been converted into one of the premier spa hotels in Europe, so if pampering yourself is on today’s agenda, your chief stewardess will be more than happy to arrange a luxury treatment for you! The former fishing village was completely renovated as a hotel in 2007 and today with its impressive appearance it provides the entire Montenegrin coast with an exceptionally beautiful and proud charm. The private island of Sveti Stefan was once the Adriatic playground of the rich and famous during the seventies, but fell into decline during the 1990s. After painstaking renovations, the island has been restored to its former glory, making it once again one of Europe’s most glamorous destinations. Joined to the mainland by a stone walkway, the island looks like something out of a fairytale story, with its terracotta rooftops contrasting against the azure blue of the Adriatic.

When the island will come into view, be ready to be absolutely captivated by it! Your captain will know exactly near which beautiful beach, with the mountains as stunning backdrop, to anchor, to enjoy some time with your family and friends. Relax on the sandy beach or take the opportunity to try out some of the yacht’s water toys. Show off your jet ski skills, go for a refreshing swim in the cleanest water you have ever seen or sit back and enjoy the view, while your chef will keep your favorite snacks and nibbles flowing. The perfect spot to spend the afternoon and to get ready at your own pace for dinner. Would you like your chief stewardess to make a reservation at one of the excellent restaurants in nearby Budva? In this stunning historic town you will be able to enjoy the liveliness of the warm nights, as the summer yacht parties start and candlelight and music dances across the quiet water. Or would you rather have dinner onboard under the stars? You can do both, spend an extra day in this beautiful country that has won you over! Whatever you decide, find some time to stop at Porto Montenegro before you head to your next destination.

Porto Montenegro

While making your way around the bay, admiring the medieval towns, you will suddenly find yourself in the modern, luxurious marina, which is part of the town of Tivat. Porto Montenegro has a lovely atmosphere. With its large yachts, luxury waterfront properties, international dining options and expensive boutiques it is quite a change from the rest of the Bay and the perfect place to pick up a souvenir or two for your loved ones back home or stroll around the international retail and dining scene, with world-class gastronomy, elegant bars and bistros. Back onboard you will all agree, you will come back to Montenegro, jewel of the Adriatic Sea!
