Fteri beach, Kefalonia
The Ionian Islands are famous for their dramatic sheer cliff beaches and the incredible color of the water. When your captain is setting sail to Fteri Beach on the island of Kefalonia, you will be mesmerized by the turquoise sea, the amazing dramatic coastline and the unique scenery.
The island of Kefalonia is home to some of the best feta cheese and visiting one of the local producers before you head to the beach is a great start of your day. You can pick up some homegrown olive oil and honey here too, these organic and pure products make excellent gifts! The local Robola wine is an award winning white wine and if you are a fan of Muscat and Mavrodafni, ask your chief stewardess to head over to one of the many wine producers on the island and stock up on this high quality favorite of yours for your beach picnic later!
Now that you had a chance to get to know the island a little better, it is time to make your way to Fteri Beach. This virgin beach can only be visited by boat or on foot, there are no roads leading to it. As the walk takes almost an hour and the path over there is rocky, you will have this beautiful, pristine beach to yourself. After you and your loved ones have soaked up the sun on the comfortable lounge chairs for a bit, go for a swim in the crystal clear water. Get the snorkel gear and see who can spot the most fish species! Don’t forget to capture these unique moments with your underwater camera. Of course, all the water toys are out, so the possibilities are endless. Show of your skills at the jet skis and sea bobs and explore the area using the kayaks. While you are having fun in the water, the chief stewardess will make sure your favorite local white wine is being chilled. Lunch will be set up in the shade on the idyllic beach and your chef will surprise you with his take on the fresh fish he picked up in the port this morning. Maybe you would like to hang around a bit longer after lunch, onboard, or at the beach, or maybe you are excited to explore the next island on the list after this perfect day in Kefalonia!
Voutoumi beach, Antipaxos
Antipaxos is a tiny island, the smallest of the Ionian Islands. Very few people live here year-round and in the summer the residents come to tend to their vineyards. Voutoumi beach is one of the best and most exotic beaches in Greece. Located on the tiny island, it doesn’t get much more secluded than this. You will be surprised by the amount of greenery surrounding the beach. The turquoise and indigo colors of the waters are stunning and it will be impossible to resist flipping off your sandals to feel the pearl-colored sand between your toes the minute you step off your yacht. Go early in the morning and stroll along the shore with your espresso or coffee in hand before you decide what you will do first today, swim, snorkel, take the kayak out or chill in the sun. Of course, you can do it all! Your crew will take care of you and your family and friends, from the water toys you would like to try out to your favorite chilled cocktail served while you are relaxing in the water with the floaties!
If you can tear yourself away from the beach, there are a few walks on the island that will lead you to orchards of fruit trees, vineyards and fields filled with wild flowers. You can also hike the path, enjoying stunning clifftop views, from Voutoumi beach to Vrika beach with its idyllic white sand. Away from the coast, you can walk to the tiny village of Vigla, with its maze of narrow, walled paths which lead to the vineyards and orchards. Here, you will be able to buy a bottle of the exclusive local wine, a rich red to bring back onboard to enjoy during dinner on deck!
Seychelles, Ikaria
If you would like to visit Ikaria’s most intriguing beach, your captain will be happy to take the yacht to the Seychelles beach in Ikaria. Being called the Jamaica of the Aegean Sea, this is one of Ikaria’s most intriguing beaches. The pebble-rock beach is located within a picturesque and intimate cove setting. There are interesting rock formations all around and the color of the crystal clear water is unmatched. Created several years ago by a landslide, this is as exotic as a beach can get and as its name already suggests: blue waters, white sands and impressive white cliffs create a magical environment. Next to the main larger cave is a small, even more private cave where your captain will drop the anchor. You can start off with taking the tender to shore or jump in the sea the moment you get here to check what is going on beneath the surface. The crystal clear water is perfect for snorkeling and swimming and the area has many underwater caves waiting for you to be explored. Are you a daredevil? Those big white granite rocks have your name on it, make sure someone is filming you when you dive off! Watch the sunset onboard with your loved ones after your perfect beach day in paradise before you get ready for another delicious meal prepared by your chef!
Whether you visit one or all of these secluded beaches during your charter, you will all agree, this is why visiting Greek islands by yacht is a unique and unmatched experience!
