Designed for discerning travelers seeking unparalleled exploration along the pristine coastlines of Costa Rica and Panama, Kontiki Wayra is an expedition yacht that seamlessly blends luxury, sustainability, and adventure. Built in 2021, she offers contemporary design paired with extensive leisure facilities, ensuring comfort, stability, and enjoyment on extended voyages. Her sleek exterior is complemented by locally sourced Costa Rican interiors, creating a sophisticated yet adventure-ready ambiance.

Accommodating up to 18 guests in nine exclusive staterooms, all convertible for added flexibility—each space is thoughtfully designed with sustainability in mind. Guests will find recycled fabrics, sustainably sourced bedding, refillable coffee capsules, and locally crafted chinaware, all contributing to an eco-conscious yet luxurious experience. Large windows and elegant interiors embody the essence of “neo-luxury.”

Spanning four decks, Kontiki Wayra features inviting spaces for relaxation and socialising, including the Organic Bar, Chill Parlour, and a Jacuzzi. Wellness enthusiasts can unwind in the serene spa or stay active in the fully equipped gym, while adventure seekers can enjoy an array of water toys, including paddleboards, Seabobs, kayaks, a 9-meter waterslide, and a floating pool. The experienced crew of 13, along with two expert naturalist guides, ensures world-class service and facilitates immersive encounters with Central America’s untouched wilderness.

Beyond the water, guests can delve into a rich cultural tapestry, visiting local villages, ziplining through lush canopies, white-water rafting, and embarking on thrilling jungle safaris. Whether seeking adventure or cultural immersion, Kontiki Wayra delivers a truly transformative journey.

RECENT UPGRADES (June–July 2025):
• All main deck windows repaired, sealed, and framed in wood to match interiors
• Veranda deck and bridge cabin doors replaced with new teak doors
• Wall coverings refreshed in all guest cabins and social areas
• Jacuzzi cladding upgraded with teak for durability
• Sundeck dining tables and chairs replaced with weather-resistant teak and aluminium (new rectangular layout for group dining)
• Sundeck outdoor bar refinished and maintained
• New lightweight life vests added for guest use
• New portable spa bed introduced for treatments on the sundeck or beach
• New Panamanian chef, Marina Rodriguez, joins the culinary team to elevate the onboard dining experience
• All bathroom amenity bottles replaced with new refillable sets
• Zodiac protection carpets and embarkation steps upgraded with new anti-slip strips
• Extensive repainting and touch-ups completed throughout the vessel

With over 20 years of experience, Captain Rodrigo Toro has navigated across some of the world’s most stunning waters. He has captained a variety of yachts and liveaboard diving expeditions, including private sailboats on long-distance voyages. Certified in GMDSS, Advanced Open Water Diving (PADI), and CPR/AED First Aid. Dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences, Captain Rodrigo looks forward to welcoming guests aboard and showing them the very best of what Costa Rica has to offer.

Scarlett Briones

Chief steward/ess

Her background in Nutrition and F&B Management brings a knowledgeable touch to the onboard hospitality experience. Her experience as Cruise Director in Aqua Expeditions and Hotel Manager in Ecoventura in the Galapagos gives her plenty of expertise to efficiently manage the interiors of Kontiki Wayra with attention to the smallest of details. Scarlett is skilled in cocktail creation and bartending, ensuring personalised service with warmth and professionalism. Dedicated to creating seamless guest experiences, she looks forward to welcoming you aboard

Angel Artavia

Steward

Trained at INA Tourism School, Angel brings expertise in etiquette, protocol, and mixology to the onboardexperience. His career includes roles at luxury properties such as Lapa Rios Lodge in Peninsula Osa, refining his craft in high-end hospitality. Angel is a master of signature and smoked cocktails, with a talent for creating unforgettable drinks. His vibrant energy ensures every day onboard is exceptional.

Jaime Agila

Steward

With a background in luxury hospitality, Jaime Agila ensures top-tier service aboard Kontiki Wayra. Trained in Bartenders Aboard Hospitality and Food & Beverage service, he has worked as a Bartender with Klein Tours & Gala Tour and a Waiter with Celebrity Xpeditions in the Galapagos. Jaime is known for his bartending expertise, warm demeanor, and service-oriented approach, creating a welcoming and memorable experience for guests.

Luis Daniel Umaña

Steward

With a background in culinary arts and hospitality, Luis ensures exceptional dining aboard Kontiki Wayra. Trained as an F&B Technician, he also holds certifications in Food Management and Private Safety. His experience at Mar y Luna Restaurant and Hotel Casa Roland Resort refined his high-end service skills. Fluent in English and Spanish, and with deckhand experience, Luis is resourceful and guest-focused, enhancing every dining experience onboard.

Richard Sánchez

Head Chef

Richard brings a wealth of expertise to Kontiki Wayra, specializing in local cuisine and pastry. Trained in Food Safety and as a Food and Beverage Manager at Culinary School Guayaquil, he has worked as Pastry Chef at Hotel Hilton Colon and Hotel Continental Guayaquil, and as Chef at Canodros Galápagos. Richard is a skilled Chocolatier and Pastry Chef, known for his warm smile and commitment to guest satisfaction.

Edisson Moreno

Steward

With a background in maritime operations and hospitality, Edisson Moreno ensures top-tier cleanliness and comfort aboard Kontiki Wayra. Trained as a Merchant Sailor, he has certifications in PBIP Code, Ocean Survival, Life Raft Operations, and Industrial Safety. His experience as a Kitchen Aid at CONODROS C.L. honed his attention to detail and efficiency. Dedicated and hardworking, Edisson plays a key role in maintaining a pristine and welcoming onboard environment for guests.

Carlos Quiñonez

First Officer

Carlos brings strong maritime experience to Kontiki Wayra, having trained at the Marine Merchant School as a Deckhand. His experience includes numerous roles with Galápagos Marine Expeditions, Floreana, and Galatours in the Galapagos. Carlos is known for his excellent teamwork and service-oriented approach, contributing to a smooth and memorable guest experience.

Jairon Rodriguez

Second Officer

Jairon brings valuable maritime experience to Kontiki Wayra, having trained at the Marine Merchant School.. His previous role with Celebrity Xpeditions in the Galapagos has refined his skills in vessel operations and guest service. Jairon is known for his leadership, organization, and teamwork, always focused on providing exceptional service and ensuring smooth operations onboard.

Francisco Celestino

Chief engineer

Francisco, a qualified Mechanical Engineer, brings his technical expertise to Kontiki Wayra, ensuring the smooth operation of all systems onboard. He has worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Open Blue Sea Farms in Panama as well as in other industries such as construction, and agriculture. Francisco is known for his leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, as well as his initiative, flexibility, and ability to work well in a team, making him a key asset to the crew.

Marina Rodriguez

Chef

Marina brings her expertise as a Chef and Gastronomic consultant to Kontiki Wayra, supporting the team with her passion for exceptional dishes. Trained as a Chef at the Caribbean Gastronomic Institute, Marina has gained an impressive track record in high-end restaurants suchvas T’ach where she worked with renowned Chef Charlie Collins. Fluent in Spanish and basic English, she specializes in local and international cuisine, known for her creativity and dedication to providing guests with the highest quality dining experience

Gabriel Moreira

Engineer

Gabriel brings his expertise as a Mechanical Engineer to Kontiki Wayra, specialising in onboard systems and electrical operations. He has previous experience with AirProyect Marine Systems, where he developed his technical skills. Gabriel is known for his excellent communication skills, being proactive, honest, and a strong team player, always ensuring smooth operations and a high level of service onboard.
